Pre-Care Instructions

PRF Under-Eye Filler

To help you get the best results from your PRF Under-Eye Filler treatment, please review and follow the pre-care checklist below.

Prior to your appointment

  • Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours before your appointment (reduces risk of bruising and swelling).
  • Discontinue blood-thinning medications/supplements for 5–7 days prior (unless prescribed by your doctor). This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo biloba.
  • Drink at least 64 oz of water the day before and day of your appointment to optimize PRF quality.
  • Eat a full meal 2–3 hours before your visit (do not arrive fasted β€” low blood sugar can cause faintness during the blood draw).
  • Arrive with clean under-eye skin (no makeup, concealer, eye cream, or sunscreen).
  • Avoid retinoids or active eye serums for 3–5 days before treatment.
  • Reschedule if you are sick, recently finished antibiotics, or have an active infection.
  • If you are iron-deficient or anemic, PRF results may be less optimal β€” notify your provider.

Notify your provider if

  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy.
  • You have a history of keloid scarring or bleeding disorders.
  • You have had any recent eye infections, styes, or procedures.
  • You have used Accutane within the past 6 months.

What to expect

  • A small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm to prepare PRF, similar to a routine lab draw.
  • The under-eye area will be numbed with topical anesthetic for your comfort.
  • You may experience mild swelling, bruising, or redness for 2–5 days post-treatment.
  • Because PRF is your own biologic material, there is no risk of allergy.
  • Initial improvement is visible within 1–2 weeks, with optimal results developing over 2–3 months.
  • A series of 2–3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically recommended for best results.
