Pre-Care Instructions

Before your appointment

PRF Hair Restoration

To help you get the best results from your PRF Hair Restoration treatment, please review and follow the pre-care checklist below.

One week before

  • If medically safe, avoid NSAIDs and blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) for 3–5 days.
  • Discontinue fish oil, vitamin E, and herbal anticoagulants β€” they impair PRF quality.
  • Do not color, chemically treat, or perm hair within 3 days prior.

72 hours before

  • Stay well hydrated for 2–3 days β€” drink plenty of water to optimize your blood draw.
  • No alcohol for 24–72 hours.
  • Hold topical minoxidil 48–72 hours before treatment.
  • No scalp styling products (gel, spray, mousse).

Day of treatment

  • Wash hair the night before or morning of treatment β€” arrive with a clean scalp free of products.
  • Eat a light meal before your appointment.
  • Wear a loose top that does not rub the scalp.
  • Notify your provider of any recent illness, infection, or medication changes.

Medications

  • Continue finasteride or dutasteride as prescribed β€” they work synergistically with PRF.

What to expect

  • Mild scalp tenderness, redness, or swelling around injection sites usually eases within 1–3 days.
  • Pinpoint bleeding or light bruising at injection areas is normal and fades quickly.
  • A short shedding phase can occur as older hairs make way for new growth.
  • Fuller, thicker hair develops gradually over several months with a series of treatments.
