Pre-Care Instructions

Before your appointment

Microneedling with PDGF

To help you get the best results from your Microneedling with PDGF treatment, please review and follow the pre-care checklist below.

One week before

  • Discontinue NSAIDs and blood-thinning supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil) 5–7 days before.
  • No waxing, laser, or chemical peels in treatment zones.
  • Discontinue topical retinoids (tretinoin, retinol) in treatment zones 5–7 days before.

48 hours before

  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Discontinue exfoliating products (AHAs, BHAs, scrubs) for at least 24 hours prior.

Day of treatment

  • Do not use retinoids, tretinoin, or retinol within 12 hours of your appointment.
  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 4 hours before treatment β€” microneedling cannot be performed on sunburned skin.
  • Arrive with clean skin β€” no makeup, lotions, sunscreen, or oils.
  • Eat a light meal and hydrate well.
  • Notify your provider if you have active acne, cold sores, infections, or open wounds in the treatment area.

What to expect

  • Most clients resume usual activities within 24 hours.
  • Mild redness or sensitivity, similar to a light sun-kissed look, typically fades within 24–48 hours.
  • Tiny pinpoint marks or light flaking may appear as skin renews β€” they shed naturally in a few days.
  • Improvements often become visible within 1–2 weeks; optimal results build over a series of treatments.

PDGF variant β€” additional prep

  • Hydrate well the day before and day of treatment.
  • No blood draw required β€” pharmaceutical-grade PDGF is applied during microneedling.
