One week before
- Discontinue NSAIDs and blood-thinning supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil) 5β7 days before.
- No waxing, laser, or chemical peels in treatment zones.
- Discontinue topical retinoids (tretinoin, retinol) in treatment zones 5β7 days before.
48 hours before
- Avoid alcohol.
- Discontinue exfoliating products (AHAs, BHAs, scrubs) for at least 24 hours prior.
Day of treatment
- Do not use retinoids, tretinoin, or retinol within 12 hours of your appointment.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 4 hours before treatment β microneedling cannot be performed on sunburned skin.
- Arrive with clean skin β no makeup, lotions, sunscreen, or oils.
- Eat a light meal and hydrate well.
- Notify your provider if you have active acne, cold sores, infections, or open wounds in the treatment area.
What to expect
- Most clients resume usual activities within 24 hours.
- Mild redness or sensitivity, similar to a light sun-kissed look, typically fades within 24β48 hours.
- Tiny pinpoint marks or light flaking may appear as skin renews β they shed naturally in a few days.
- Improvements often become visible within 1β2 weeks; optimal results build over a series of treatments.
